75 Years of Kombi magic: A journey through VW bus history

Celebrating 75 years of the iconic VW Bus, a European automotive legend that continues to evolve.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is marking 75 years of the VW Bus, Europe’s longest-running commercial vehicle.

On March 8, 1950, the first Transporter (T1) rolled off the Wolfsburg production line. Over 12.5 million VW Buses have followed, solidifying its status as a cult vehicle and Europe’s most successful commercial vehicle.

From the original T1 to the latest T6.1, the VW Bus has consistently evolved. The shift to electric mobility has led to a diverse line-up, including the Multivan, ID. Buzz, and the new Transporter. These models carry the DNA of the original T1, adapting to modern needs while retaining their iconic design.
