Pink grapefruit sour cocktail recipe

This vibrant twist on a classic sour blends grapefruit’s sharp bite with a touch of sweetness and the silky texture of egg white.

If you’re in the mood for something that’s sharp, smooth, and just the right kind of fancy, the Pink Grapefruit Sour is your go-to. It’s citrusy, slightly bitter, and beautifully balanced with a silky foam top – served in a coupe glass that makes it feel like a proper grown-up drink!

The bold flavour of grapefruit gives it a refreshing edge, while the egg white adds a rich, velvety finish that lingers on the palate. It’s the kind of cocktail that wouldn’t be out of place in a dimly lit bar with jazz playing in the background, but it’s just as easy to whip up at home.

Serves: 2 | Prep time: 5 minutes | Level: Easy

Ingredients

  • 100ml gin (a citrusy like Three Citrus Gin works well)
  • 60ml pink grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed, if possible)
  • 30ml lemon juice
  • 25ml sugar syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • Ice
  • Grapefruit peel, to garnish

Method

  1. Add the gin, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, sugar syrup, and egg white to a cocktail shaker.
  2. Shake hard without ice first (this is your dry shake – it helps create that foamy top).
  3. Add ice and shake again until the shaker feels cold.
  4. Strain into chilled coupe glasses.
  5. Garnish with a twist of grapefruit peel.
