Natural remedies for skin, scalp, stretch marks and more
Give yourself a natural beauty boost with these inexpensive ingredients.
Forget products that cost the earth and are filled with ingredients you cannot pronounce and keep your beauty routine simple and natural with these five tips:
- Camellia oil for stretch marks: There’s no shame in softening some of those pesky body lines. Rub camellia oil onto affected areas every morning and evening. Over time, this reduces the appearance of stretch marks as well as other types of skin discolouration, like sun damage.
- Green tea youth enhancer: Green tea has anti-ageing and antioxidant benefits that can help delay signs of skin ageing, such as sagging skin, sun damage, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles. The polyphenols in green tea help neutralize harmful free radicals, which can cause significant damage to the skin and accelerate the ageing process.
Try this simple recipe for a glowing complexion: Mix 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt, 1 tablespoon of ground green tea leaves and a little turmeric powder. Apply this mix to your face and neck. Allow it to sit for 20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. Use this face mask once or twice a week for best results.
- Potato eye relief: Get rid of dark circles by cutting thin potato slices and putting them on top of your eyes for ten minutes. This gentle eye treatment will lighten the skin around your eyes. You’ll find this trick works particularly well if you do it routinely.
- Rice water facial rinse: Rice is packed full of antioxidants that can nourish your skin and fight harmful free radicals that lead to aging. Buy any rice you like and soak it in water for 20 minutes. Strain out the rice, and use a washcloth to mop the water onto your face. Do this once a week and you should notice a difference.
- Tea tree oil dandruff fix: Add a couple of tea tree oil drops to your shampoo and you will be amazed at the difference. The tea tree oil will prevent scalp itching and flaking.
