18 arrests in Limpopo as ‘relentless fight’ against drugs continues
Fifteen of the suspects were released after they paid R50 admission of guilt fines.
A 30-year-old woman is the latest arrest by members of the Crime Intelligence and Crime Prevention Units, as they continue their relentless fight against the availability of drugs in certain areas of the province.
The woman was arrested in the Mokopane policing area yesterday and drugs and illicit cigarettes were confiscated, according to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo.

“Members from the Mahwelereng Crime Intelligence and Crime Prevention Units once more responded to a tip-off from members of the community, which led them to a house at Pholar Park. The woman was found in possession of nyaope, dagga and illicit cigarettes with an estimated street value of R8 000 as well as cash,” Mojapelo said.
She is set to appear before the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court today on charges of dealing in drugs and the possession of illicit cigarettes in contravention of the Disaster Management Act.

The woman’s arrest follows 15 suspects, aged between 18 and 30, being arrested over the weekend for using nyaope at Moshate village under the Mahwelereng policing area outside Mokopane.
Mojapelo said they paid R50 admission of guilt fines and were released. “These arrests led the police to the alleged suppliers of nyaope at Moshate village. A 51-year-old man was arrested with his 38-year-old partner. They were found in possession of 146 sachets of nyaope with an estimated street value of R4 380,” he added.
The man and his girlfriend appeared before the Mogalakwena District Court on 13 July. They are set to appear in the same court again on 20 July, after the man was remanded in custody and his partner was granted bail of R1 500.
