Police raided a mandrax lab today, arresting two suspects and seizing machinery and powder estimated to produce 35 000 pills.
Two people were arrested today during a raid on a mandrax lab.
Randfontein Herald reports that West Rand Flying Squad spokesperson Karin du Plessis said police were informed of an alleged mandrax manufacturer before the raid.
“Observations were done of the property, and we obtained a warrant, ultimately leading to the raid.”
Two suspects were apprehended, one of who was reportedly found in the process of making the pills. Machinery used to produce the illegal substance, as well as powder estimated to be worth 35 000 pills, was also found.
In a separate incident, Pretoria Rekord reports that police seized drugs worth an estimated R15m, consisting of scheduled medicine, steroids, and other performance-enhancing drugs, from a self-storage facility in Derdepoort, north of Pretoria, yesterday.
National police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk said detectives from the SAPS National Organised Crime Investigation Narcotics Unit seized a significant quantity of scheduled medicine.
