2 killed, 3 critically injured as taxi overturns outside Giyani, Limpopo

Reports suggest that the minibus hit a stray animal.

Three people sustained serious injuries and two killed after a minibus crashed on the R578 near Hlaneki village outside Giyani.

The Transport and Community Safety’s Media Liaison Officer, Mike Maringa, told Review Online that 11 others escaped with minor injuries when a taxi they were travelling in hit a stray animal, lost control and overturned.

“The taxi driver is among those that were rushed to Khensani Hospital in a critical state,” Maringa said.

The Transport and Community Safety MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, has sent messages of condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
