5 people killed in N2 crash near Mtubatuba in KZN

At least 16 people were killed in accidents involving trucks on KZN roads this week.

Five people lost their lives in a serious collision on the N2 near Mtubatuba last night, reports the Zululand Observer.

It is reported that a light motor vehicle and a tipper truck collided in Manandi along the N2, resulting in the death of four adults and one child.

Two other people were seriously injured.

KZN MEC for Transport Siboniso Duma has extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those who are injured.

“We have agreed with RTI that an investigation into this accident must be launched in collaboration with the Road Traffic Management Corporation and SAPS,” said Duma.

The Citizen reports that at least 16 people were killed in accidents involving trucks in KZN this week.

On Thursday, 11 people were killed when a truck and a minibus taxi collided in Isiphingo.

The accident occurred when, according to witnesses, the truck allegedly attempted to make a U-turn resulting in a head-on collision.
