Body of a newborn baby found on the roof of a house in Mpumalanga

Her mother is facing the concealment of birth charges.

A 20-year-old woman is facing a charge of illegal concealment of birth after the body of a newborn baby was found on the roof of the house, Ridge Times reports.

It is alleged that the suspect was at home when she complained about severe pain and the family assumed that she was in labour and called an ambulance.

According to the police, on arrival at Bethal Hospital the family was informed that the woman has already given birth.

Constable Cynthia Mtsweni, police spokesman, said when she was asked where the baby was, she allegedly denied that she had given birth.

“We received information that neighbours noticed the body of baby on the roof of the house.

“They alleged that they had a terrible stench coming from the roof of the suspects home.

“Upon investigation they discovered the body of the baby.”
