Cyclist killed in Kempton Park, another stabbed in Middelburg

In both incidents, robbers made off with the cyclists’ bicycles.

In alarming reports about attacks on cyclists in Gauteng and Mpumalanga yesterday, one person lost his life in a robbery while another had to be rushed to hospital with a stab wound.

Two suspects arrested for cyclist’s murder

In Gauteng, on the R25 in Kempton Park, a cyclist was shot and killed in a robbery yesterday morning.

The Kempton Express reports that five suspects robbed the victim, his 18-year-old son as well as a third cyclist of their bicycles.

Ekurhuleni SAPS district spokesperson, Captain Nelda Sekgobela, says shots were fired during the incident and the victim was fatally wounded.

Two suspects were later apprehended.

Victim stable after stabbing

In Middelburg, Mpumalanga a woman was stabbed and robbed of her bike while riding the Tarries mountain bike course in Aerorand.

The Middelburg Observer reports that another female cyclist who was present at the time of the incident, escape unscathed.

The victim was rushed to the Life Midmed Hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition.
