EFF member stabbed to death in front of his son

Police are investigating a case of murder after Randfontein subregional coordinator for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member was stabbed to death in Toekomsrus, Randfontein, in Gauteng.

It was alleged Monde Kwenyama’s 10-year-old son witnessed the ordeal on Christmas Day and was reportedly traumatised, Randfontein Herald reported.

When police arrived at the scene, they were told Kwenyama (33) had been stabbed but was taken to the emergency services.

However, he was declared dead upon arrival at the centre, police said.

A 32-year-old suspect, allegedly well known to Kwenyama, is in custody.

In a separate incident, an EFF member was killed in Vosloorus, East Rand, in May last year.

It was alleged Thapelo Lekana (28) was shot four times outside the gate of his house.

Police said Lekana was shot by an unknown person.

No arrests have been made.
