eMalahleni community seeks answers over owl killing

The discovery of an owl shot dead with a pellet gun in Mpumalanga has sparked outrage among residents, who condemn the illegal killing as an act of cruelty.

A reward of R3 500 has been set for anyone who can provide concrete information leading to the identification of the person responsible for shooting and killing an owl on Delft Street in Die Heuwel Proper, reports Witbank News.

The owl was found dead in a local resident’s yard, having been shot with a pellet gun.

The incident has sparked frustrations among residents who view it as a serious wildlife crime.

They emphasised that the deliberate killing of such a creature is not only cruel but also illegal.

Community members are being urged to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation. All details shared will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.

The reward is intended to encourage witnesses or those with knowledge of the crime to speak up and help ensure justice is served.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call 060 951 7425.
