A man was arrested on Thursday, for allegedly being in the possession of drugs after the Tshwane metro police received a tip-off, Rekord East reports.

Tshwane metro police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba said drug unit officers received a tip-off about the suspect who was from Burgersford.

It was alleged that the man was making his way back to Burgersford in a taxi from buying drugs in the Pretoria CBD.

“The information was followed and the taxi was stopped in Arcadia,” Mahamba said.

“Passengers were searched and the suspect matching the description was found with heroin with an estimated street value of R16 000.”

Mahamba said the TMPD would like to commend community members who worked together with the police to fight the scourge of drugs in the city.
