Gauteng Covid-19 active cases at 27 140 as total confirmed cases hit 211 678

The department said out of 128 518 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 106 099 people have completed the 10 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.

The number of hospitalised people due to Covid-19 in the province stood at 2 625. Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:

• Johannesburg: 85 199 cases and 78 386 recoveries
• Ekurhuleni: 47 720 cases and 45 764 recoveries
• Tshwane: 46 047 cases and 38 551 recoveries
• Sedibeng: 14 370 cases and 10 621 recoveries
• West Rand: 13 649 cases and 11 216 recoveries
