Gauteng Covid-19 cases climb to 71 488

The number of confirmed cases increases by 4 597 since Monday.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 71 488 with 21 414 recoveries and 478 deaths on Tuesday.

The department of health on Wednesday, said out of 36 828 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 23 103 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and they were de-isolated.

The department said 3 167 people were currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.

Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:

  • Johannesburg: 33 750 cases and 12 617 recoveries
  • Ekurhuleni: 15 807 cases and 4 417 recoveries
  • Tshwane: 11 481 cases and 2 815 recoveries
  • Sedibeng: 3 120 cases and 594 recoveries
  • West Rand: 4 625 cases and 971 recoveries

  • City of Tshwane 1: Ga-Rankuwa, Mabopane, Winterveldt, Soshanguve, Rosslyn, Karen Park, Wonderboom, Akasia, Nina Park, Orchards, Amandasig, Theresa Park, Pretoria North (2 291);
  • City of Tshwane 2: Hammanskraal, Temba, Suurman, Dilopye, Stinkwater, Ramotse, New Eersterust, Kameeldrift, Pyramid/Rooiwal, Doornpoort, Kekana Gardens, Marokolong, Randstown, Kanana (618);
  • City of Tshwane 3: Atteridgeville, Laudium, Pretoria CBD, Hercules, Danville, Saulsville, Lotus, Pretoria West (3 629);

  • City of Johannesburg C: Roodepoort, Constantia Kloof, Northgate, Florida, Bram Fisherville (4 244);
  • City of Johannesburg D: Doornkop, Soweto, Dobsonville, Protea Glen (7 075);

  • Merafong City: 1 066 cases;
  • And 92 unallocated cases.
