‘Hijacked’ toothpaste truck found in Pretoria east

The truck was recovered in Pretoria east by the Silverton police after a tip-off by residents who witnessed the truck been offloaded.

A toothpaste truck hijacked in Nellmapius was recovered quicker than it was anticipated, though the goods were gone, Rekord East reports.

Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said the truck carrying more than two million boxes of toothpaste, was hijacked in Olifantsfontein and the driver dropped off along the way.

“The truck was recovered in Pretoria east by the Silverton police after a tip-off by residents who witnessed the truck been offloaded,” he said.

“The truck was recovered with some of the luggage [cargo].”

Sepato said the hijackers had already fled the scene.

He appealed to residents with information that may lead to the arrest and recovery of the missing toothpaste to come forward.

Business owners are advised not to buy items from unauthorised dealers.
