KZN businessman stabbed to death

A 60-year-old businessman was stabbed to death by suspects who allegedly tried to rob him of his day’s takings at his makeshift shop in Westcliff, KwaZulu-Natal.

Chatsworth police spokesperson Lieutenant Cheryl Pillay said the deceased sustained multiple stab wounds during the robbery on Thursday, Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and found the victim had sustained life threatening injuries. The victim was taken to Chatsmed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A case of murder and house robbery is under investigation.

Last month, a businessman in the Driefontein area of Ladysmith, in KwaZulu-Natal was shot and killed in an alleged attempted hijacking. Abu Baker Omarjee had been travelling with his son to Ladysmith at about 4pm when the suspects stopped along the road in the Hobsland area to drop off a staff member who lived nearby.

Two men stormed towards the bakkie, opening fire on the front and side of the vehicle, hitting Omarjees. He died later at La Verna Hospital.
