Limpopo murder accused found hiding in bed base expected in court
Authorities tracked down a man accused of fatally stabbing another man in Shongoane after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
A 27-year-old murder accused who absconded from court is due to appear in the Lephalale Regional Court today (June 15) after being arrested during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by Villa Nora detectives, Villa Nora Crime Prevention and Lephalale members.
According to Letaba Herald, the man was arrested in the early hours of June 11 in Lephalale, where he was found hiding inside the base of a bed.
He is accused of fatally stabbing a man following an altercation at Shongoane 2, Elele Section, on September 28, 2024.
The suspect was initially arrested and spent about 11 months in custody before the matter was struck off the court roll pending further investigations.
He was later summoned to appear in the Lephalale Regional Court but failed to attend, resulting in a warrant for his arrest being issued.
Additional allegations
Further investigations linked the suspect to a case of common robbery and intimidation that occurred at Abbotspoort in the Lephalale policing area.
A young woman was robbed of her cellphone and threatened to be killed, allegedly by him.
