Load-shedding increases to stage 5

Breakdowns and a delay in getting generating units up and running have led to an increase in load-shedding.

Load-shedding has been increased to stage 5, starting from 14:00.

Eskom said in a short statement that there was a delay in returning generating units to service. Adding to that, a further five generating units have failed today.

Thus, stage 5 will be implemented until 05:00 tomorrow. Thereafter, stage 4 will be implemented until further notice.

The power utility said it would publish another update if any significant changes occur.
