Load-shedding: Stage 4 to remain in place until further notice

Due to several difficulties, Eskom has announced that load-shedding will remain at stage 4 throughout the night.

Eskom announced tonight that stage 4 load-shedding will continue to be implemented throughout the night until diesel stocks have been replenished.

The power utility said in a thread of tweets that a vessel that was supposed to offload diesel in Mossel Bay could not do so due to rough seas.

“Eskom has to therefore preserve the low diesel levels at Gourikwa, while delivery to Ankerlig will take time to replenish as it is done by road tankers.

“Stage 4 will be maintained until we can resume diesel supplies to the two open cycle gas turbine stations,” Eskom said in a tweet.

Furthermore, three units have been shut at Camden power station due to a technical problem. The remaining four units are also expected to be shut.

The power utility said it would publish a comprehensive media statement tomorrow.
