Man in court for killing son
A man is set to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after he allegedly shot and killed his son.
The 62-year-old man was arrested in the Norkem Park area of Kempton Park, on the East Rand, on Sunday evening, Kempton Express reported.
According to police spokesperson Captain Lesibana Molokomme, the shooting happened after the suspect and his 39-year-old son had an argument.
“During the argument, the father took out his licensed firearm and shot his son in the stomach,” Molokomme said.
The son was later declared dead on the scene, while his father was arrested and charged with murder.
In another incident, a man was arrested after he allegedly hacked his father to death with a spade in Kwaggafontein, Mpumalanga, last month.
The 26-year-old suspect reportedly attacked his father, who was on his way to work.
Blood found on the man’s clothes, along with a spade, were later sent for forensics testing.
