Physician condemns harmful petrol drinking in church
A 22-year-old woman from Springs, Nomfundo Dube, who experienced severe symptoms after ingesting petrol and grass at a local church has gone on to declare her unwavering faith in the practice.
This despite strong warnings from a Pretoria East physician, Dr Nico Smith, who has criticised a local church pastor for giving people petrol and grass, saying it is not healthy for the human body, Rekord North reported.
Smith said humans could not digest grass because it required special enzymes, which humans did not have.
He was reacting to reports this week that Pastor Lesego Daniel of the Rabboni Centre Ministries church in Ga-Rankuwa, north of Pretoria continued to give people petrol and grass for ingestion.
Preaching to a capacity church service last Sunday, insisted on feeding his congregation petrol and grass. “According to the book of Mark 16:18, when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all,” Daniel said of the church’s practice.
On Sunday the woman went to the Rabboni Centre Ministries (RCM) to share testimony about how she received divine healing after drinking the petrol.
Nomfundo explained how she began to experience heart pains in 2011: “The severity of the pain usually left me breathless, and as a result, I had many sleepless nights. My ailment affected my life tremendously because I was unable to do simple things like walk long distances and lie on my stomach,” she said.
“God demonstrated His power through me. While under the influence of the Holy Spirit, I experienced an unbearable thirst which I still cannot explain. I drank petrol on that faithful day, and all the pains I had subsided – for the first time in three years I was able to sleep on my stomach,” said Nomfundo.
She said she was completely healed and would continue to serve God, drinking petrol should the need arise.
