Suspected drug syndicate in the dock following massive bust in Durban
Five members of a suspected drug syndicate were captured by the Hawks from the Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation team, Special Task Force and SARS Customs for alleged drug manufacturing and dealing, recently.

The accused men, between the ages of 27 and 54, appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court, earlier this week, Rising Sun Chatsworth reports.
Cpt Simphiwe Mhlongo of the Hawks commented, “Police officers conducted a number of undercover operations before cracking the alleged syndicate. In March, this year, one of the accused was arrested for manufacturing and dealing in drugs in Hillcrest.”
The drug lab was dismantled and police seized paraphernalia as well as heroin to the street value of about R1, 6 million.
“Police officers left no stone unturned in their investigation and swooped on the accused in Chatsworth and Amanzimtoti. All syndicate members were arrested and charged accordingly,” he added.
Investigations are ongoing.
