VIDEO: Bag snatcher caught and beaten in Joburg CBD
Cellphone footage shows a group of people beating up a man in his early 20s after he snatched a bag from an elderly woman near Park Station in Johannesburg CBD.
The woman was walking towards Rea Vaya station when the suspect grabbed her bag and ran away. Bystanders screamed as the suspect was running towards the Department of Home Affairs on the corner of Harrison street.

Two men heard people screaming and saw the suspect running away. They tripped him before beating him up. Passersby also joined in the beating saying they are tired of being mugged.
In the video, a man emerges from the crowed and jumped to the suspect`s chest. A security guard holding a sjambok is seen trying to intervene.
Shortly afterwards, JMPD officers arrived at the scene and the suspect was taken to the police caravan stationed near the Home Affairs.
In a separate incident, video footage emerged showing a 22-year-old man being carried by a group of men after he allegedly snatched a bag from a woman on the corner of Amsterdam and OR Tambo streets in Witbank, Mpumalanga, in May.

The victim, Busi Nxumalo, was on her way to work when her handbag was snatched from her. The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards by a businessman from Magic Plumbing and his team.
In the video, the suspect is seen being carried by four men. He was put at the back of a bakkie as three women beat him, one using a broomstick.
