One person is feared dead after the Student Store, located in the Mankweng Complex outside Polokwane, collapsed earlier today under unclear circumstances.

According to Polokwane Review, unconfirmed reports suggest one person died in the incident. The same shop caught fire in July last year, but the cause of today’s collapse remains unknown.

Police and emergency medical services are on the scene, and officials have cordoned off the area while search-and-rescue operations continue.

Unconfirmed reports from witnesses suggest that some community members and students attempted to loot food items from the collapsed building before law enforcement intervened.

Authorities are urging the public to stay clear of the area to allow emergency teams to work safely.
