WATCH: Beer truck loses its load in Kempton Park

Hundreds of beer bottles slipped from the cargo, and no looting of the intact load still on the truck was reported.

Monday morning was a turbulent traffic morning on CR Swart Drive as a beer truck lost a partial load of multiple beer products while turning left from Old Pretoria Road at about 8am, Kempton Express reports.

According to officials on scene, no injuries were reported. Hundreds of beer bottles slipped from the cargo, and no looting of the intact load still on the truck was reported.

Waste pickers and pedestrians took to the streets and helped to clear bottles that were still intact, as well as helping themselves to morning refreshments on their way to work.

The driver said he does not know how this mishap could’ve transpired, but could point Kempton Express to the owner of the truck who was standing nearby, assessing the damage.

“We will check via camera footage to determine what the load looked like when it collapsed. The company will investigate the source that led to the accident,” said the owner of the truck.

Just after 7am, a car was reported to be on fire on the corner of Green Avenue and CR Swart Drive, right in front of Flame Diner.
Firefighters on scene alleged the car simply overheated in morning traffic and caught fire.

The fire was extinguished within half an hour, after multiple reactionary services responded to the scene. The scorched vehicle was moved thanks to the driver and reactionary officers that restored traffic flow to normal around 8am.
