Watch: Crocodile caught in Mpumalanga dam
A crocodile that was captured in a dam in close proximity to houses will be released into the Loskop Dam.
A juvenile Nile crocodile was caught in a dam in Siyanqoba, on the outskirts of eMalahleni in Mpumalanga, earlier today.
Piet Wassenaar, who has a permit to work with the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA), says the crocodile was spotted at the dam and a trap was set yesterday.
“We are lucky that we caught the croc so quickly,” Wassenaar says.
It will be taken to Loskop Dam.
Johannes Lekoto from the MTPA says the crocodile is in good health and has no injuries.
The MTPA has warned the area’s residents to be careful near dams and streams.
