Just over 1 million Grade 12 learners across the country will sit down to write the first of their final exams today.
Matric exams commence today, 5 November, with just over 1 million Grade 12 learners across the country siting down to write the first of their final exams.
The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga shared a video message to matrics, saying they had faced many challenges this year.
“You have made it this far. This year has been your most difficult year, academically, but you persevered. Thank you very much for all of that. The end is in sight, keep going, don’t give up. Success is within reach,” she said.
The video was shared in a post on the Department of Basic Education South Africa Facebook page on the eve of the exams.
Earlier this year, the Basic Education Department recorded 1 058 699 Grade 12 learners writing their final exams this year- the highest number yet.
“Following interruptions to the academic year due to Covid-19, Cabinet appeals to all parents and guardians to support their children during this important time,” said Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu.
