Watch: Failed cash-in-transit heist leaves 3 injured in Ekurhuleni

Police are hunting an armed gang that ambushed a cash van, leaving three security guards wounded in a violent shoot-out.

Three Fidelity security guards were rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries during a cash-in-transit heist on the corner of Heald and Sigalo streets in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, yesterday.

Benoni City Times reports that, according to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, a group of about 10 people attacked a Fidelity cash van, leading to a shoot-out that injured the guards.

“No cash was taken from the vehicle,” says Sibeko.
