Watch: Kruger visitor pays the price after risky behaviour at lion sighting

A tourist broke all the rules at a Kruger lion sighting – and social media is roaring with outrage.

A tourist was fined R2 500 for exiting his vehicle during a lion sighting in the Kruger National Park (KNP).

According to Lowvelder, he was filmed by another tourist near the Crocodile Bridge section, and the video was posted on Wildest Kruger Sightings’ Facebook page yesterday. Hundreds of social media viewers have expressed outrage at the tourist’s actions, as the footage shows him stepping out of his car to photograph the lion while others remained safely inside their vehicles.

Some of the comments on Lowvelder‘s Facebook post:

He is also seen making an obscene gesture with his middle finger toward a man who warned him of the danger.

The tourist was reported and fined upon arriving at Crocodile Bridge Gate.

KNP communications manager Rey Thakhuli urged visitors to remain in their vehicles during wildlife sightings and to report anyone who violates the rules.

To protect his privacy, the tourist cannot be named, despite the video drawing widespread attention online.
