Tourist fined in Kruger National Park for exiting car near lions
A video on Facebook shows a tourist flouting safety rules during a Kruger Park lion sighting.
A tourist was fined R2 500 for exiting his vehicle during a lion sighting in the Kruger National Park (KNP).
He was filmed by another tourist near the Crocodile Bridge Section, and the video was posted on Wildest Kruger Sightings Facebook today on April 7.
The footage shows the tourist stepping out of his car to photograph the lion while others remained safely inside their vehicles.
He is also seen making an obscene gesture with his middle finger toward a man who warned him of the danger.
The tourist was reported and fined upon arriving at Crocodile Bridge Gate.
To protect his privacy, the tourist cannot be named, despite the video drawing widespread attention online.
KNP communications manager Rey Thakhuli urged visitors to remain in their vehicles during wildlife sightings and to report anyone who violates the rules.
