According to Eskom’s spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha, Emfuleni owes Eskom R2.3 billion since 2018, a court judge ruled that Eskom could recover R165 million in this debt from the municipality.

Following Emfuleni Local Municipality’s failure to pay Eskom for February, property belonging to the municipality were seized this morning, Carletonville Herald reports.

Failure to stick to an agreed payment plan, lack of financial discipline and abysmal revenue generation and management by ELM are to blame for this state of affairs, says organised business.
