Woman (52) falls 4 metres in Kloof Gorge, airlifted to hospital

A 52-year-old woman was in serous condition after she fell about 4m in the Kloof Gorge yesterday morning.

Members from Netcare 911, Rescue Tech, Ezemvelo Wildlife rangers, Metro Police SAR, Tracbox/SACAN, START, eThekwini Fire and Rescue as well as the Specialised Rescue Unit had to hike to the patient’s location, Highway Mail reports.

“Once on scene, the patient was found to have sustained serious injuries and was treated by a Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner,” said Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst.

When the patient was stabilised, she was carried by the team of rescuers on a specialised stretcher. The entire rescue took about four hours.

The patient was then airlifted to a nearby hospital by an awaiting Netcare 911 helicopter.
