Woman shot dead after peeping out of shack in Mpumalanga double murder

A woman peeped out of her shack after hearing gunshots and was shot dead in a double murder at Sheba Siding in Low’s Creek.

A woman who peeped out of her shack after hearing gunshots was shot dead, bringing to two the number of people killed at Sheba Siding in the Low’s Creek area yesterday.

According to Lowvelder, two gunmen arrived at a home, followed a man behind the house, and gunned him down at 14:30.

Another person inside the house fired shots at the two men with his licensed firearm.

“The suspects shot back at him, but he left the house and jumped over the fence to escape,” says Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane.

“A neighbour (47) who was inside her shack heard the sound of gunshots and peeped out. It was during this time that she was shot dead,” adds Ndubane.

She says the man who had jumped the fence returned shortly thereafter, only to find the two victims lying on the ground.

Paramedics were called and certified both victims dead.

Police attended the scene and opened two cases of murder.

“Some empty cartridges as well as some live ammunition and other items that were found at the scene were confiscated for further investigation,” says Ndubane.

No arrests have been made, and police have urged anyone with information to call Crime Stop on 08600 1011 or detective Sergeant George Mazibuko on 082 546 2039.

“Alternatively, members of the community may send information via the My SAPS app. All received information will be treated as confidential, and callers may opt to remain anonymous,” says Ndubane.
