Man shot dead in Low’s Creek
A woman who heard the gunshots peeped out of her shack and was then also shot dead.

A woman who peeped out of her shack after hearing gunshots was herself shot dead, bringing to two the number of people killed at Sheba Siding in the Low’s Creek area today, Thursday, February 20.
Two gunmen arrived at a certain home, followed a man who went behind the house and gunned him down at 14:30.
Another person who was inside the house fired shots at the two men with his licensed firearm.
“The suspects shot back at him, but he left the house and jumped over the fence to escape,” said the provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane. “A neighbour (47) who was inside her shack heard the sound of gunshots and peeped out. It was during this time that she was shot dead,” added Ndubane.

She said the man who had jumped the fence and escaped returned shortly thereafter, only to find the two victims lying on the ground.
Paramedics were called to the scene and certified both victims dead.
The police also attended the scene. They opened two cases of murder.
“Some empty cartridges as well as some live ammunition and other items that were found at the scene were confiscated for further investigation,” said Ndubane.

No arrests have been made and the police have urged anyone with information that might assist in apprehending the gunmen to call the Crime Stop number on 08600 1011, or call the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant George Mazibuko, on 082 546 2039.
“Alternatively, members of the community may send information via the MYSAPS app. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous,” said Ndubane.
