Watch: Soccer fans brawl with players after Champions League match

Another CAF Champions League match ended in violence with fans attacking each other and the players.

Chaos broke out yesterday on the Orlando Stadium pitch after the Orlando Pirates advanced to the CAF Champions League semi-finals even though they were held to a 0-0 draw by MC Alger.

Following the match, Orlando Pirates fans invaded the pitch to defend their players, coaches, and referees, who were under attack from MC Alger players.

The violence follows fans clashing violently after Mamelodi Sundowns’ win against Esperance on April 1, when, amid the chaos, a Sundowns supporter heroically rescued an Esperance fan dangling from a railing.

Orland Pirates through to the semi-finals

SA Soccer Mag reports that Orlando Pirates won the first leg of the quarter-final 1-0 in Algiers last week through a Mohau Nkota goal and progressed to the penultimate stage of the premier African club competition 1-0 on aggregate.

The semi-finals this month will pit South African and Egyptian clubs against each other for places in the two-leg final.
