Boy, 7, drowns at Pretoria resort

Community members and emergency services searched throughout the night for the missing child, and discovered his body by daybreak.

A seven-year-old boy has drowned at a resort in the north of Pretoria.

Bohlale Mokoena’s body was discovered early on Sunday morning after he went missing the previous afternoon, Rekord North reported.

Community members, community policing forum and emergency services searched feverishly for the boy late on Saturday afternoon after he was reported missing.

Zenobia Loock-Du Plessis from Sinoville Firefighters Association said some of their members helped in the search.

“Police divers and other members of the community were all helping in the search for the missing child from late afternoon and throughout the night,” she said.

Best Care ambulance services spread the word on social media, and more residents in Sinoville joined the search.

Despite all efforts, the boy was found dead hours later.

Vernon Smith of the Sinoville CPF said: “It is truly heartbreaking. So many people became involved and helped search for Bohlale. We were all hoping and praying we would find him alive.

“Our condolences to the family.”

A manager at ZambiBush resort Jaco Pretorius said the drowning was being investigated.

He could not immediately give comment on the matter, but said more information would follow later.
