Pensioner strangled to death in her home
A 65-year-old pensioner was found dead with her hands tied and strangulation marks on her neck at her home in Shallcross, in KwaZulu-Natal.

Described by her three sons as a loving and caring mother, Hemrani Brijlal, fondly known as Sunitha, was a member of the Durban Association for the Aged (Dafta), Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.
Speaking to journalists after the funeral on Monday, Brijlal’s son, Viren said: “My mother was a strong-willed person who was always lending a helping hand to residents in the Shallcross community, where she spent the last 38 years of her life. She will be dearly missed by friends and family alike.”

According to reports at the Chatsworth SAPS, the woman’s neighbour alerted police after he discovered her lifeless body at her home on Biggarsberg Street.
A case of murder was opened and is being investigated at the Chatsworth police.
Chatsworth police spokesperson Captain Cheryl Pillay said no arrests have been made at this stage and investigations are continuing.
Police are appealing to witnesses, who can assist in the investigation, to contact the investigating officer, Detective-Constable Khanyile, on 073 314 3757 or 031-451-4274.
