Eminem to perform in SA in 2014

Rap superstar Eminem is set to play in South Africa for the first time ever when he brings his Rapture tour to the country next year.

Showtime Management has confirmed that Eminem has been booked for two concerts in SA in 2014; one in Cape Town and one in Johannesburg.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Thursday, 21 November, and be available from Computicket.

Eminem recently released his much-anticipated eighth studio album, ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’, a continuation of his much acclaimed 2000 offering, ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’. Renowned record producer and Def Jam Records founder Rick Ruben produced the album, with longstanding idol, friend, and collaborator Dr Dre in the executive producer seat. It features collaborations with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, and Skylar Grey.

Speaking to Rolling stone in October, Eminem said of his new album: “Calling it The Marshall Mathers LP 2, obviously I knew that there might be certain expectations. I wouldn’t want to call it that just for the sake of calling it that. I had to make sure that I had the right songs – and just when you think you got it, you listen and you’re like, ‘Fuck, man. I feel like it needs this or that,’ to paint the whole picture. So there’s not gonna be, like, continuations of every old song on there or anything like that. To me, it’s more about the vibe, and it’s more about the nostalgia.”

Eminem will be at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday, 26 February 2014, and at the Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday, 1 March 2014.
