Farmer killed, son wounded in Gqeberha armed robbery

Police are searching for three armed men who were allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old farm owner during a house robbery outside Kinkelbos in the Eastern Cape on Sunday night.

The farmer’s son was also shot in the upper body during the incident, according to police who attended the scene near route R72 towards Alexandria where, the son and his mother, who sustained unknown injuries, were rushed to the nearest hospital. Police are investigating a case of murder, with the additional charges of attempted murder and house robbery.

Anyone who might be able to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects is requested to contact their nearest police station.

Another murder in the Eastern Cape

In a separate incident in the province, a 28-year-old man was arrested after the alleged murder of a 32-year-old man in Mhlakudo on Saturday night.

A statement from the police alleges the victim was involved in an argument with the suspect while at Montrose tavern at Mhlakulo A/A. The suspect then drew a knife and stabbed the victim.

The suspect is due to appear at the Tsolo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
