Level 2 warning: Disruptive rain, damaging winds expected in parts of Western Cape

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds between Cape Columbine and Plettenberg on Thursday.
According to the weather service, difficulty in navigation at sea is expected in the area.
A yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rain has also issued over the City of Cape Town, western parts of Cape Winelands and Overberg Districts as well as Swartland Municipality of the Western Cape, mainly in the early morning.
This will result in localised flooding of formal and informal settlements, warned the weather service.
This as extremely high fire conditions are expected in the eastern parts of the North West, parts of Gauteng, the western parts of Limpopo, the extreme north-western parts of Mpumalanga, as well as the eastern parts of the Free State on Thursday.
“Very cold”, wet and windy conditions are expected over the interior of the Western Cape the western and southern parts of the Northern Cape, as well as the western parts of the Free State on Thursday until Friday.
“Such conditions are problematic to small stock farmers, particularly in sheering of goats sheep and goats,” warned the weather service.

Thursday’s weather forecast
Gauteng: Fine, windy and cool to warm weather. The expected UVB sunburn index: Very High.
Mpumalanga: Windy on the Highveld, otherwise fine and cool to warm, but hot in places on the Lowveld where it will become partly cloudy in the evening.
Limpopo: Windy in the west, otherwise fine and warm to hot weather.
North West: Fine, windy and cool but warm weather in the east.
Free State: Fine, windy and cool but partly cloudy and cold in the south with isolated evening showers.
Northern Cape: Windy in the east, otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to cold with light rain and showers in the west, spreading to the south towards afternoon while clearing in the west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly.
Western Cape: Cloudy and cold to cool with isolated shower and rain, but scattered along the south coast with light snowfalls over the extreme north-eastern mountain peaks from late afternoon.
It will become partly cloudy over the western parts from the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-westerly. The expected UVB sunburn index: Low.
Western half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy and cold with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread along the coast and adjacent interior. Light snowfalls expected over the Sneeuberg Mountains. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.
Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Fine and cool, becoming cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers. Light snowfall expected over the southern Drakensberg at night. The wind along the coast will be light south westerly, becoming moderate to fresh by midday.
KwaZulu-Natal: Fine and cool, but warm in the north. It will become partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south. Windy conditions over the western high ground or closer to the Drakensberg Mountains.
The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-westerly. The expected UVB sunburn index: High.
