Naeto C and AKA to host Channel O awards

Hip hop stars Naeto C and AKA will be hosting the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards later this year.


The popular DStv music channel confirmed the exciting news on Monday, and the two popular rappers soon after expressed their excitement about being chosen to co-host the 10th edition of the annual awards ceremony.

“I’m really excited to host this year’s Channel O Africa Music Video Awards, especially on its 10th anniversary,” the channel quotes Naeto C on its website.

“To be a part of this experience is totally awesome and I look forward to sharing this magical moment with the rest of Africa on November 30th.”

AKA is cited as saying: “I am very honoured to co-host this celebration of Africa’s finest talent with Naeto C. I won my first Channel O Music Video award in 2011 and two years later, being in this position is testament to my loyal following. Thank You to Channel O and the fans, it’s going to be a classic night.”

Nigerian Rapper Naeto C won the Channel O Video of the Year Award in 2009, the Most Gifted Hip Hop Video award the year after, and the Most Gifted African West Video in 2011.

South African hip hop star AKA, has received three nominations for this year’s Video of the Year award – for his song ‘Jealousy’ and for his collaborations with Xtatic and Priddy Ugly on ‘Hit ‘Em Up’, and with Zeus and Tumi for ‘#DatsWasup’. He is also up for the Most Gifted Hip Hop award, which he won in 2011.

The 10th Annual Channel O Africa Music Video Awards takes place at the Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, Soweto, on 30 November.
