One person died and three others were left in a critical condition following a collision at the intersection of Golf Club Terrace and The Highway yesterday morning, March 31, Roodepoort Record reports.
According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, paramedics received the call just after midnight. “When ER24 paramedics, along with other emergency services, arrived on scene all four victims were still in their vehicles. A female passenger was trapped and the jaws-of-life was used to extricate her.
“The driver of the vehicle, a 47-year-old male, also required assistance to exit the vehicle. He and the woman were treated with advanced life support interventions and transported to a private hospital in the area.”
He added that a male passenger from the other vehicle showed no signs of life and was declared dead on scene. The driver, also male, was treated and taken to Leratong Provincial Hospital.
The cause of the accident is not known yet, but the Johannesburg Metro Police Department, as well as the Accident Investigation Unit, were on scene for further investigations.
