Pinetown man shot dead by security guard

The man was shot after allegedly stealing porridge from a factory in the area.


A man believed to be in his late 20s was killed in New Germany in Pinetown on Saturday afternoon.

ER24 spokesperson Annine Siddall said it is believed the man was shot by a security guard after stealing porridge from a factory in the area at about 12.30pm, Highway Mail reported.

“At the time of their arrival, ER24 paramedics found the man lying in the middle of Schafer Road.

“He sustained one gunshot wound just below the heart. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man, and he was declared dead on the scene,” said Siddall.

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the incident.
