One of the suspects took out a firearm and forced her to hand over a cellphone and bank card. The victim was also robbed of her jewellery, wallet, bank cards, cellphone, house keys and cash.

The vehicle stopped at an unknown location and R1 200 was withdrawn from the victim’s bank account. According to police, a second suspect raped the victim while the vehicle was in motion.

A public outcry prompted the police to ask for more information from the public after they arrested four men linked to a number of similar rape attacks in the same month.

The provincial police’s Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the police had identified both the men’s faces and believed that they may assist with the ongoing investigation.

He said police suspected one of the men was the driver of the vehicle on Wednesday, April 26 this year when the woman boarded the vehicle.

The second man was linked to the robbery after the woman’s banks cards were later used to purchase several goods including liqour.
