Rand Airport Road collision leaves nine injured

When paramedics arrived, they found the taxi on the pavement, while the bakkie had come to a stop on the opposite side of the road.


Nine people were injured this morning when a taxi and bakkie collided, causing the taxi to roll multiple times on Rand Airport Road in Germiston.

ER24 paramedics responded to the scene at about 6.45am after receiving reports of numerous patients on the scene, Germiston City News reported.

“On arrival, paramedics found the taxi on the pavement while the bakkie had come to a stop on the opposite side of the road,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that a total of nine had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

“The patients were treated for their injuries on scene and transported to various hospitals in the area for further treatment,” added Meiring.

The details surrounding the collision are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene to conduct further investigations.
