Sascoc congratulates Skhosana

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) on Sunday congratulated Aleck Skhosana on his appointment as the new president of Athletics South Africa (ASA).

Skhosana was elected to the position at a special general meeting in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Saturday’s elections brought an end to a year-long power struggle and sees Skhosana, a former KwaZulu-Natal Athletics (KZNA) president take the reins after the position was left vacant when the previous president James Evans stepped down in February.

“We are delighted that the battle at ASA has finally come to a halt,” said Sascoc CEO Tubby Reddy.

Reddy said he hoped to have a good working relationship with ASA following the change of leadership.

“We hope that athletics in South Africa will now be resurrected and we will hear more positive stories on success and development of the sport.”
