ANC mayor vows to resign if Ramaphosa wins
The mayor says he would also resign as Ekurhuleni regional chair should the majority of branches in his region nominate Ramaphosa instead of Dlamini-Zuma.

Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina, a known supporter of President Jacob Zuma, has reportedly vowed to resign should Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa emerge victorious at the ANC’s national conference in December.
“I will leave. I can never serve under Cyril. I respect him as my older brother, as a leader. [But] I just don’t believe in this group he belongs to. So, he can lead. I will be out,” Masina told News24 on Tuesday.
He was responding to allegations made by members of his branch that he was frustrating the ANC’s nomination process to ensure his preferred presidential candidate, former AU chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, was nominated.
‘If Nkosazana loses, white people will lead SA. I will not be part of it.’
Masina said he would also resign as regional chairperson should the majority of branches in his region nominate Ramaphosa instead of Dlamini-Zuma.
“It means I am not a leader. I can’t lead people who don’t listen to me. It’s politics. This is not just a presidential race, it’s politics,” he said.
Last month, the ANC’s Gauteng provincial executive threw its weight behind Ramaphosa’s campaign bid to replace Zuma as the governing party’s next leader.
Masina insinuated the deputy president was a white people’s candidate.
“If Nkosazana loses, white people will lead SA. I will not be part of it. I will not be mayor of Ekurhuleni, but I will leave the ANC in power,” he said.
