Biker dies in Centurion crash

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed when his motorbike crashed into the back of a bakkie on Solomon Mahlangu Drive in Centurion on Friday afternoon, paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find both the bakkie and motorbike in the middle of the road. The body of the biker was found lying several metres away from his bike, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found bystanders performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the biker. Paramedics took over CPR and also provided the man with several advanced life support interventions.

“Unfortunately, after 30 minutes, no vital signs returned and the man was declared dead. The driver of the bakkie was assessed and found to have escaped injury.”

The details surrounding the accident were not yet known, Meiring said.
