Case against seven arrested for R50m drug bust postponed

A tip-off led to the arrest of four people inside a drug laboratory in Springfield Industrial Park near the Durban business district.

The case against seven people who were arrested in connection with a R50 million drug bust in Durban on March 1 has been postponed to April 9 for a formal bail application.

The seven suspects, who all were identified to be from Cape Town, briefly appeared in the Durban Magistrate Court on Thursday for their bail application.

The accused are facing charges of manufacturing and dealing in heroin and Mandrax and possession of drug-making machinery.

A tip-off led to the arrest of four people inside a drug laboratory in Springfield Industrial Park near the Durban business district. The four people were arrested by members of the provincial organised crime unit, alongside the eThekwini Inner South cluster’s drug and firearm unit. The arrest then led to three more people being apprehended at Shepstone Place in Westville, according to TimesLive.
