KZN woman in court for allegedly orchestrating husband’s murder

The 40-year-old professional nurse is suspected of orchestrating a plot with her married boyfriend to get rid of her husband.

The wife of a man who was gunned down in Matshana area on February 3 is one of four suspects arrested for the killing, reports Zululand Observer.

The 40-year-old wife, who works as a professional nurse at a private hospital, is suspected of orchestrating a plot with her married boyfriend to get rid of her husband, 44-year-old Thulani Mthiyane.

The pair allegedly hired two hitmen to eliminate Thulani.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Nkosinathi Mthiyane said they were grateful that the SAPS had managed to arrest the alleged perpetrators.

“We are still appalled by the fact that one of the suspects is his wife, but we are glad that [in] the end the police managed to arrest them all.

“We praise the police for their outstanding performance. We believe they will gather sufficient evidence, which will send the perpetrators straight to jail.

“My brother loved his family so much so that, even after their marriage, he sent his wife to the University of Zululand, where she acquired a nursing degree.

“The pair had three children together,” he said, adding that they were shocked to discover that his sister-in-law was involved.

“If you look at the scenario how Thulani was killed, it’s clear to us that his wife was involved in orchestrating the plot to get rid of him.

“On the day of the incident, the deceased received a phone call from his wife asking him to meet her in Matshana area, as she was scared to drive past Amangwe bus stop alone. She then told us that they met and drove back home, with the deceased following her vehicle.

“She also said she heard a gunshot going off behind her, and when she looked in the mirror, she could not see her husband’s car. She said she only went back there to the scene after receiving a call that her husband had been killed,” said Nkosinathi.

King Cetshwayo police spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose said the four suspects would appear at Ngwelezana Magistrate’s Court for bail application on Wednesday.
